For centuries, Earth had staved off nuclear holocaust by the principle of Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD). But when mankind colonized the solar system, destruction ceased to be
mutually assured. In 2316, the inevitable war came quickly and suddenly, trapping billions in underground shelters and cities, and killing billions more. The survivors found
themselves cut-off from the rest of human civilization for almost two hundred years, left to contest the decimated, irradiated world; forever changing them.
Meanwhile, the rest of human civilization has burned through the most immediately-accessible of resources, and has come to realize that the destruction of Earth has left them in an unsustainable position unless they are able to develop reliable, extra-solar travel to colonize a truly Earth-like planet. Quite simply, Earth was an efficient anchor point for humanity. Despite its spatial limitations, Earth still supported comparatively cheap housing and prime operating conditions. Conditions in space require massive, constant reinvestment to maintain life. Unable to reach beyond Sol, it seems humanity's best hope is to seek the embrace of a home it destroyed.
Take command of a security venture sponsored by the United Traders Coalition or become the Boss of a Mutant Network in Under Gaia, a unique Real-Time Strategy game currently in development by Unearthly Games. Both sides operate from completely different, asymmetric standpoints. The United Traders Coalition is looking to establish footholds and infrastructure on the world that will allow it to engage resource extraction operations and settlement. The Mutant Networks stand in the way of that and are using home-field advantage to survive and wage a war of attrition against the invaders. The United Traders Coalition may not have access to the absolute latest in military technology, but it does supply its sponsor ventures with the best surplus equipment around. Mutant Networks need to make-do with primitive technology by comparison, but they have tricks up their sleeves, including psionics and super mutants. They also have superior numbers.
